A. The Occupation Permit (OP) – Best for Professionals

The OP is a combined work and residence permit, making it the most common pathway. It allows you to work and live in Mauritius.

  • Investor: Requires an initial investment of USD 50,000.
  • Self-Employed: Requires an initial investment of USD 35,000 and operation as a one-person company.

B. Young Professional Occupation Permit (YPOP)

Designed for foreign students who have graduated from tertiary education in Mauritius. It is valid for up to 3 years and offers a pathway to a permanent permit.

C. Premium Visa – Best for Digital Nomads

For remote workers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs who work for clients/companies outside Mauritius.

  • Duration: Valid for 1 year, renewable.
  • Rule: You cannot work for local Mauritian companies or enter the local labor market.
  • Requirement: Proof of income/savings from abroad (e.g., bank statements).

D. Work & Residence Permit (Traditional)
